Getting Started with Buildy
This guide is for creators, founders, and teams who want to build something real without learning how to code. Let's get your first app live. Remember that you never need to build your own login or sign-up pages; the real login experience is always controlled via Dashboard → Sign-in Page.
Pro Tip: Buildy makes big design and security choices based on your initial plan. If you already know your app needs to be login-only, for paid members, or have special admin areas, tell Buildy in your very first conversation! Similarly, if you plan to use AI chat or voice agents and a custom domain, mentioning that early helps Buildy choose the right structure for your app.
Before you start: Tell Buildy your long-term plan
Knowing who will use your app helps Buildy build the right foundation from day one.
Who is allowed in?
- •Public Site: Like a blog or brochure where anyone can browse everything.
- •Login-only: A private app where users need an account to see anything.
- •Paid Members: For apps where only paying subscribers get special access.
User Levels (Roles)
- •Admin: That's you. You can see all data, edit everything, and manage users.
- •User/Member: Regular people who can only see their own information. Find leads and customers in Contacts. Leave deeper database edits in Data Management to advanced use only.
- •Staff/Manager: You can even have middle roles with specific powers.

Step 1 – Define your version
Before typing, think about the 'MVP' (Minimum Viable Product). What's the one thing your app must do? Who is it for? If you already know it should be login-only or for paid members, mention that here too.

Step 2 – Gather what you already have
Buildy can learn from your existing content. Paste links to your current website, or upload files like PDFs, spreadsheets, and screenshots of old sites to pull out prices, FAQs, or schedules.

Step 3 – Ask Buildy to create your first page
Start by describing your project in a few sentences. Include your target audience and the primary goal.

Step 4 – Review and refine the design
Look at the preview. Don't worry if it's not perfect yet! You can ask for changes just like you're talking to a designer.
Step 5 – Add real content
Once the layout looks good, replace the placeholder text with your actual information. If you're stuck, ask Buildy to help draft text for you!

Step 6 – Add forms and data
Need to collect sign-ups? Ask Buildy to add a form. Leads, customers, and form submissions land in Contacts, your CRM under the Dashboard. Data Management holds the app’s database records and is for advanced users only, since editing there means editing the database directly.

Step 7 – Add AI helpers
Add advanced features like AI chatbots or voice agents. Voice agents can call real phone numbers when someone submits a form (if you choose), and text agents can send email summaries of tricky questions to you.

Step 8 – Test and publish
Click through your app to make sure everything works. Buildy creates checkpoints automatically, so if something feels wrong after testing, you can ask to roll back before publishing again.
