Using Publish & Share

    Getting Started
A comprehensive guide to using the Publish & Share menu in Buildy, covering live site address access, web publishing, advanced remix copy options, security reviews, and social sharing.

The Publish & Share menu brings together publishing, access to your live website, remixing, security review, and social sharing. Open it at the top right of the Buildy editor.

Live Link: see what visitors see

Live Link shows your published website’s address. The Primary badge identifies its main address. Click the address or the open-link icon to visit it in a new tab.

Your preview and published website can show different versions:

    • Preview reflects your latest website changes as you work.
    • Published website shows the version you most recently published.

If something appears in the preview but not on your live website, check whether you have published since making that change.

To connect or buy a custom address, open the Dashboard tab above your preview, then go to Domains and Email. Publishing and domain setup are separate tasks.

Publish to the web: release your latest changes

Click Publish when you are ready to replace the published version with your current website.

Buildy does not automatically publish website changes when it finishes a task. You control that final release. You can continue editing after publishing, and visitors will keep seeing the previously published version until you publish again.

    Before releasing an update:

    1. Click through your main pages and navigation.
    2. Submit important forms and check the results.
    3. Check your website on your phone.
    4. Publish, then open the live link to review the visitor experience.

Important: The preview is not a separate copy of all your business information. Changes to stored records, access permissions, and some connected services can take effect immediately. Do not assume that everything you change is held back until you publish.

Publishing also preserves your app’s access restrictions. Members-only areas still require the access you have configured.

Remix link: share a reusable copy of your project

A remix link lets anyone preview your website and copy it into their own Buildy account. They can then customize that copy as their own project. This is useful for sharing templates, example websites, or reusable starting points.

By default, the copy includes your website’s design and how it is built. Additional resources are excluded unless you select them under Advanced copy options. Contacts are never copied.

    Understand what sharing allows

Anyone with the link can copy your project and use it as their own. Their copy is fully independent: you cannot revoke or delete it after it has been created.

Projects with an active remix link may also be publicly displayed or featured by Buildy. Deactivate the link to opt out of that visibility and stop further copying through it. Deactivating the link does not remove copies people have already made.

Share a remix link only when you intend to let others reuse your work. For ordinary website visits or feedback, share your Live Link instead.

    Choose what the copy includes

Open Publish & Share, click Manage link, then expand Advanced copy options. All optional additions are off by default.

Option What it includes Important limits
Database records Saved information used by your app. This may include customer personal information. App user accounts and passwords are never copied. Review the information carefully before enabling this.
Media library Supported uploaded and generated images, videos, audio, and documents. Enable this when the recipient needs the project’s reusable media, including media required by eligible ad and social drafts.
Ad drafts Eligible ad drafts that can be transferred to another project. Ads tied to connected accounts and unsupported media are skipped.
Social post drafts Eligible unpublished social posts. Published posts and posts tied to connected accounts are skipped.
Email marketing Email sequences, campaigns, and broadcasts. These are copied as drafts. Contacts are not included, so this does not transfer your mailing list.
Voice and text agents Agent instructions and knowledge. Agents are copied as inactive drafts, without phone numbers or connections. The recipient must complete their own setup before using them.
Business and brand context Reusable information about your business, audience, and brand. Include this for a ready-made branded starting point. Leave it off when the recipient should establish their own business identity.

After choosing the resources to include, click Save copy options.

    How media affects copied drafts

If an ad or social post needs media, it is skipped unless Media library is enabled. Turning on Ad drafts or Social post drafts alone may therefore leave some items out.

Even with those options enabled, the following are not copied:

    • Google/YouTube video ads.
    • TikTok Spark ads.
    • Published social posts.
    • Contacts and app user accounts.
    • Connected accounts and stored private access keys.

The recipient should review the copied drafts and complete any required account connections before publishing or activating them.

    Protect private information before sharing

Database records deserves particular care. Saved app information can contain names, support messages, bookings, or other personal details, even though Contacts and app user accounts are excluded.

Keep this option off unless you have reviewed the records and are comfortable sharing them. For a reusable template, including the website without its saved customer information is usually the safer choice.

Stored connection keys are excluded, but private keys or passwords written directly into the project itself can still be included in the copy. Remove those before sharing.

Before distributing the link, review both what the recipient needs and what you are granting permission to reuse. Once someone creates an independent copy, you no longer control that copy.

Review security: check access to stored information

Click Review to ask Buildy to examine who can access the information your app stores.

A useful review checks four separate permissions:

    • Read: Who can see records?
    • Create: Who can add records?
    • Update: Who can change existing records?
    • Delete: Who can remove records?

These permissions should match the purpose of the information. Visitors might need to read published articles, but only authorized staff should edit them. A public contact form might need to accept submissions while keeping previous submissions private.

Protect stored information as well as the pages that display it. Hiding a staff page or requiring sign-in does not, by itself, establish appropriate permissions for every record.

Ask Buildy to explain the findings before making broad changes. Tightening access can affect forms, staff tools, and automated processes, so those paths need to be considered together.

A security review identifies issues and improvements; it is not a guarantee that every possible risk has been eliminated.

Share on social: promote your published website

Publish your website first, then click Share to open the available social sharing options, including X (Twitter) and LinkedIn.

Choose a destination, review your message, and complete the sharing steps. Publishing your website does not automatically post it to your social accounts.

For a broader campaign, use Marketing & Ads to create social captions and visuals or prepare scheduled posts. Those publishing workflows require the relevant social account connection and your final approval.
